"Hooked On A Feeling" is a pop song written in 1968 by Mark James. The song was originally performed by BJ Thoms and reached as high as No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 list. More popular, however, was the version by the Swedish band Blue Swede, which ranked No. 1 on the same list in 1974.
The author of the hit song "Hooked On A Feeling" in the Blue Swede version is Bjorn Skifs, who was very popular in Sweden at the time. The song's introduction features the famous "Ooga chaka" from Jonathan King's 1971 cover, and the arrangement was inspired by a version by Jamaican reggae band The Twinkle Brothers. The band modified the lyrics slightly so that the song did not touch on drug themes.
The song has experienced its second youth in recent years thanks to the blockbuster movie Guardians of the Galaxy ("Guardians of the Galaxy"), which used the song performed by the band Blue Swede.
