Music video description

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Poland's regaining of independence, we have prepared some patriotic songs for you. Another song we would like to present to you is "White Roses," a patriotic song probably written in 1918 by Mieczyslaw Kozar-Slobodzki with words by Kazimierz Wroczynski and Jan Lankau. It is also possible that other people contributed, but unfortunately we will not find out anymore. What is certain is that the song has gone down in history and is still sung at various independence celebrations. It was performed by many artists and it was hard for me to choose the best version, I decided on the performance by the Jurand Choir from 1935. The song could also be heard in the movies "1920 Battle of Warsaw" or "1920. War and Love". The song itself is very touching, telling the story of a girl whose beloved Jasienka went off to war and never returned home. In the second part of the song we hear the story of another soldier who comforts the widow and tells of Jasienka's heroic death.
