This actor and singer was born on December 28, 1899 in Geneva Switzerland. He had Swiss citizenship, which was not known in the interwar period. When he revealed them while applying for a visa to the US, he was arrested by the NKVD. He died in the gulag from exhaustion and starvation on October 7, 1943.
