The official UEFA EURO 2020 anthem "We Are The People" was created by Bono, The Edge from the band U2.

Due to pandemic reasons of moving the Euro by a year, details about the anthem were kept secret for more than a year. The song has just appeared on digital services and the video on YouTube. The song features Martin Garrix and iconic musicians from the band U2: Bono and The Edge. All three can be seen in the music video, to which you are cordially invited.

From the very beginning of the creation of this song, Martin Garrix had a feeling that Bono's voice would fit the song perfectly. Both Bono and his U2 bandmate, The Edge, agreed to collaborate with him, with Bono writing the lyrics and The Edge creating the guitar riffs. The end result is the distinctive sounds of each artist combined into one cohesive whole.

In the words of Martin Garrix himself:

Being able to create music for one of the most important sporting events in the world together with Bono and The Edge is an amazing experience. I'm very proud of what we've been able to do and excited to finally share "We Are The People" with the world!

Martin Garrix was also responsible for creating other elements of the tournament's musical setting. Among other things, he is the author of the music that will accompany the players as they enter the field and also for the illustration for the television broadcasts. The song itself was released on the artist's 25th birthday.

Every UEFA EURO tournament since 1992 has had an official song, and tracks have been recorded by artists such as Nelly Furtado, Simply Red and Enrique Iglesias.

For the first time in its history, UEFA EURO 2020 is being held in different countries across the continent. Matches will take place in cities such as Amsterdam, Baku, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Glasgow, London, Munich, Rome, St. Petersburg and Seville. The opening match between Turkey and Italy will take place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, June 11, 2021, and the final is scheduled for July 11, 2021 in London at Wembley Stadium.
