The song "Strangelove" is a song from the repertoire of the English band Depeche Mode, which was released on April 13, 1987 as a single from the group's sixth album "Music for the Masses." The song reached number 16 on the UK singles chart, and number two on the charts in Germany and South Africa. It was also popular in many other European countries. In the United States, it ranked at number 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 list and was the first of Depeche Mode's songs to reach the top of the Hot Dance Club Play chart and held that position for three consecutive weeks.
The hit "Strangelove" was remixed by the band Bomb the Bass and re-released in the US as "Strangelove '88." This version reached number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Anton Corbijn was responsible for directing the music video for the original version of the song, and the clip was shot in a hotel room in Paris.
