The track "Always On My Mind" is a song written by Wayne Carson, Johnny Christopher and Mark James, which is known in versions by many performers, just to mention here such names as Branda Lee, Elvis Presley, American country music star John Wesley Ryles or Willie Nelson. On the other hand, a cover of the 1987 Grammy-winning group Pet Shop Boys deserves special attention.
The hit song "Always On My Mind" played by the band Pet Shop Boys is a synth-pop version of the original, which first appeared on the UK ITV station's "Love Me Tender" program in 1987. The program commemorated the tenth anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, and the band's performance was so well received that its members decided to release the song as a single. Julian Mandelshon was responsible for producing the single. The song very quickly became number one in the UK charts and stayed at the top of the charts for four consecutive weeks. It also reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the US.
The band's version of Pet Shop Boys also reached number two on The Daily Teleraph magazine's 2004 Best Singles of All Time. It was also recognized by a BBC station in October 2014.
