Music video description

Peter Gabriel is quite a well-known figure in the music market. He is an English musician, artist, songwriter and music producer who gained fame as the lead singer of the legendary group Genesis. In 1975 Peter Gabriel left the band and began a solo career. However, it is worth mentioning that he is not just one of many popular musicians, he also had a major impact on the world of music as a whole. He was one of the pioneers when it came to digital music distribution, founding one of the first digital music distribution platforms, OD2, with two others in 1999. Meanwhile, the technology that this company created was later used by more than 100 different music distribution entities. He also co-founded the art festival "World of Music, Arts and Dance" and owned a music label that promoted artists. His best-known single is the song Sledgehammer, and it is this song that I would like to present to you in today's post. This song is from the artist's fifth album entitled "So" and was the first and main single promoting this album. This music video was released in 1986 and became a huge hit worldwide. This was probably due to the very original music video that was made for this song. It should be mentioned that this music video won most of the awards at the "MTV Video Music Award" gala in 1987. These awards were won, for example, in the categories for best music video of the year, best male music video of the year, best visual effects or direction. In total, there were as many as nine such category wins, which was an incredible success that no one has managed to repeat to this day. For example, the hits A-Ha - Take On Me or R.E.M. - Losing My Religion won "only" six such awards. However, the closest to this record was Lady Gaga with its music video "Bad Romace," which won seven such awards. Peter Gabriel, during the shooting of this video, lay on glass for 16 hours during which frame by frame the video was created. Finally, it is also worth noting that, according to several sources, the Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer music video was the most played music video on the MTV channel in its entire history. I invite you to watch the music video and see you in the next entry.
