Scarlet is a British musical duo that included Cheryl Parker and Jo Youle. Initially, however, the band was a trio, the third member Joanna Fox left the band before it achieved its first successes. The girls met and began playing together during their high school years. In 1991 they moved to London where they signed their first music contracts. They released several singles, however, none of them were commercially successful. Joanna left the band in 1994, and just a few months later, at the turn of 1994 and 1995, their biggest hit was released, as well as the song I'd like to present to you today. The song in question is Independent Love Song, which climbed quite high in the UK charts in January 1995. This single appeared on the band's debut album entitled "Naked." The song became a hit in foreign markets as well, including in Ireland where it climbed to number 10 on the local charts. Meanwhile, in Poland, the song reached the 9th place on Polish Radio's Program 3 charts. The black and white music video was recorded in New York City in the famous Times Square.
