The Police - Roxanne is a song by The Police originally released in 1978 to promote the band's debut album, Outlandos d'Amour. It was re-released on the B-side of the single "Can't Stand Losing You" in 1979 gaining much popularity and becoming the band's first hit. The song is about a prostitute from France, so radio stations refused to promote the single on the radio. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine placed the song at number 388 on its list of 500 songs of all time.
