Music video description

"Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" is one of the more recognizable American Christmas songs. The song was written in 1958 and the first performer of this hit was American singer Brenda Mae Tarpley better known as Brenda Lee. The song itself was written by Johnny Marks, who specializes in Christmas songs and is the author of well-known holiday hits such as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "A Holly Jolly Christmas." The recording shown here is from Brandy Lee's 1984 television appearance. When she first recorded this song she was only 13 years old, as she recently confessed she doesn't know why the author chose her to sing it, she wasn't a very well-known artist at the time. The song became very popular again in the 1990s, thanks to the iconic 1990 Christmas movie "Kevin Home Alone." The song was featured in the film when young Kevin pretended he wasn't home alone and there was a Christmas party going on.
