Kate Ryan is a Belgian singer who rose to fame between 2000 and 2010 with her hit songs such as "Libertine," "Voyage Voyage" and "Je t'adore." Her best-known song is "Désenchantée," which comes from her debut album Different. The song was released in 2002 and quickly became a hit in Europe. "Désenchantée" won many awards, including Gold and Platinum status in many countries, and topped the charts in Belgium, the Netherlands and France. The video for the hit song "Désenchantée" was filmed in Paris and depicts Kate Ryan in various situations in which she feels discouraged and disappointed. The music video has been viewed more than one million times on YouTube and won the TMF award in the "Best Music Video" category. Kate Ryan has appeared on a number of TV shows, including "Top of the Pops" and "Hit Machine." In 2003, she performed at the Cannes Film Festival, where she sang the hit song "Désenchantée" presented in this entry. The song has also been used in a number of films and series, including "The L Word" and "The O.C.".
