I started today's update with the band The Kelly Family, and with this band I will end today's posts. I certainly do not need to introduce the band to you, but I will write a few sentences about the history of this very distinctive and specific musical group. This is a family band, whose origins date back to the second half of the 1970s. However, the family's history goes back to the 19th century when, due to the great famine in Ireland, a lot of people emigrated to the United States. One of them was Sean O'Kelley, born in 1839. He was just 8 years old when his family left Ireland for Michigan in the US. And so he is the great-grandson of the members of the band "The Kelly Family." He was also the one who changed his name from O'Kelley to Kelly, which sounded more American. This is where the family's musical history began, as Sean was a well-known musician in the Irish community who played the fiddle. In the 1990s when the group was most successful, controversy surrounded the lifestyle of its members. Many people did not like their image of nomadic and wandering people. They sewed their own clothes and all had long hair including the boys. On the other hand, there were fans who literally loved this family and cried at concerts.
